Hooniverse Asks- What Automotive Activity Should Be an Olympic ...

See the young lady with the shotgun up there? That?s multi-medal winning Olympic trap shooter Kim Rhodes. She says that she practices seven days a week, and goes through thousands of shells, and as many clay pigeons, on each and every one of them. Oh yeah, and when she?s not taking out the stone ?frisbees she relaxes by restoring classic cars. Needless to say, Ms. Rhodes is an Olympic keeper.?

Here?s the thing about the Olympic games ? the Summer events at least ? aside from the shooting, there?s not a hell of a lot of action for those of us used to cars trading paint at 200 emm-pee-aich, or participating in parking lot donuts. Oh sure, there?s the skimpy costumes to ogle ? both men?s and women?s ? but I don?t find what they?re doing in them all that ?engaging as it doesn?t involve 100 octane or precedent requests to hold my beer.

That?s why we need to turn up the volume on the Summer Olympics by suggesting a few new medal-worthy sports that involve cars, motorcycles, hell, anything with tires and an internal combustion engine. Sure, we have Auto Racing and the X-Games and Moto-X, but THAT?S NOT ENOUGH. Right now it?s men in Speedos and girls with thighs that could crush walnuts jumping around like someone lit their ass on fire. Why can?t we put them in a figure eight demo derby? What do you think, is there an automotive event that could be Olympic worthy?
